With French colonization of Vietnam in the mid 1800’s, a large part of Vietnamese culture and cuisine was heavily influenced by France. Opla is a Vietnamese word derived from the French term for fried egg, “Oeufs au Plats”. Fried eggs were served in the streets of Vietnam with traditional grilled pork, pate, ham, and pickled vegetables. It soon became a quintessential dish for breakfast throughout Vietnam.
I had the opportunity to work with three owners to help them create and realize their vision of opening an opla cafe. With a very quick timeline approaching before their grand opening, together we designed their logo, exterior signage, menu boards, and collateral materials.
Café Opla successfully opened in November 2017 and gets busier every month. They proudly serve Stumptown Coffee and oeufs au plats with meat from all different cultures, blending together tradition and originality.
Café Opla is located in Seattle on the pier and connected to the World Trade Center. Check them out and have a taste!
